Broken

Brokenness,
Did I really pray for this?
I didn't understand
What it would demand,
The pressure it would take
To pierce the shell and break
The barriers that hindered me.

Brokenness,
Did I count the cost of it?
How could I have seen
What brokenness would mean,
That all I've held in pride,
And buried deep inside,
Must now be killed and die in me.

Brokenness,
I begin to see the good of it.
When at last there's less of me
I will soar, for I'll be free
To BE---not just to do,
And to let the Love flow through
The Channel you have made of me.
